$69.90 · about 15 days a chargeHow OBD GPS trackers work
An OBD GPS tracker is a small tracker that plugs into the OBD-II port your car already has. It works out its own location from GPS satellites, then sends that location over a cellular network to your app or browser. ShadowAuto is the ShadowGPS version of that, built for cars, trucks, Turo rentals, and small business fleets.
What owners actually get out of one
Certainty first: your car is either where you left it or it is somewhere on a map you can look at. After that, the practical stuff. Engine codes surface a fault before it becomes a repair bill. Trip history settles questions about where a car went and how long it sat. Driver behavior alerts show harsh braking and speeding while there is still time to talk about it.
How it connects
The GPS receiver inside the tracker calculates position, the cellular radio sends it to a cloud server, and the app or browser draws it on a map. That whole loop is what a refresh rate measures, and ShadowAuto runs it every 5 seconds while your car is moving.
OBD trackers vs. hardwired trackers
A hardwired tracker is spliced into wiring behind the trim, which means a shop visit and a harder job to remove. An OBD tracker like ShadowAuto goes in yourself in under 2 minutes and comes out just as easily.
Alerts and notifications
A live map answers "where is it." Alerts answer "what just changed." ShadowAuto sends tamper and Car Alarm alerts, speeding alerts, and geofence alerts when your car enters or leaves a zone you drew.
Plugging it in
There is nothing to fit beyond pushing the tracker into the port. OBD-II ports have been standard on cars and trucks since 1996, so it works with most of what is on the road.
What plans cost
ShadowAuto is $69.90 for the tracker and $12–$15/mo after that, with no contract, ever.
